Railroad embankment – Determination of elastic parameters

Elastic parameters have to be determined along a railway embankment. Short seismic refraction surveys with P-wave source and vertical geophones and SH-wave source and horizontal geophones have been carried out using identical receiver positions. A tomographic travel time inversion of both compressional and shear wave first breaks leads to the calculation of the desired elastic parameters.
